Certain global immunization protocols require certified regulatory documentation. What to Expect During Your Consultation

Dr. Parikh takes an individualized approach rather than relying on a generic checklist.

01

Review Your Itinerary

We analyze specific countries, rural vs. urban regions, seasonality, accommodations, high-altitude excursions, and potential animal or vector exposures.

02

Review Medical History

We assess existing medical conditions, ongoing medications, allergies, and past immunization records to avoid redundant vaccines and cross-reactions.

03

Develop Health Plan

Leave with clear direction: prescriptions for preventive medications sent to your pharmacy, vaccine coordination, and specialty clinic referrals.

Timing Matters

When Should You Schedule?

Ideally, schedule your appointment at least 4 to 6 weeks before international travel. This window gives you adequate time to complete multi-dose vaccine series, build effective immune response, pick up prescriptions, and attend specialty referral visits if needed.

Traveling in Less Than 4 Weeks?

Contact us immediately. While advance scheduling is optimal, there are still critical preventive medications and interventions we can coordinate prior to departure.

CDC-Informed Guidance

We rely on current CDC Travelers' Health guidelines and destination entry advisories rather than static lists, ensuring up-to-the-minute clinical accuracy.

Insurance & Travel Care Coverage

Consultations may be eligible for coverage under standard primary care insurance benefits depending on your carrier and network. Medications, retail pharmacy vaccine dispensing, and specialized third-party clinic fees are billed separately. Please verify your individual plan coverage before your visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I schedule my travel medicine appointment?

Whenever possible, schedule 4–6 weeks before departure to account for multi-dose vaccine schedules and immune response times. If leaving sooner, contact us anyway to evaluate immediate options.

What should I bring to my consultation?

Bring your complete itinerary (destinations, rural vs. urban stops, outdoor activities), previous immunization cards, and a current list of all medications and known allergies.

Does Health One Family Medicine administer vaccines on-site?

No. We coordinate prescriptions for eligible routine and travel immunizations through your preferred retail pharmacy, and refer out for certified specialized vaccines.

Do I need a Yellow Fever vaccine or Yellow Card (ICVP)?

This depends on destination regulations. Health One does not administer Yellow Fever vaccines directly, but we coordinate referrals to authorized Yellow Fever centers that issue the official ICVP Yellow Card.
